Russian missiles are flying a deadly course from their fall-back positions in Crimea and hitting Kherson, Mykolaiv and Voznesensk while their ground troops are gathering for another assault in the spring--just weeks away. The Russians are terrorizing the civilian population, blowing up schools, hospitals, grocery stores and infrastructure. Imagine life without safe water, gas or electricity! Cellphone and internet services are spotty. People are unable to check on family members to see if they're OK. And it will only get worse when the Russians mount their spring offensive which will push many thousands of Crimean refugees up to Kherson and then to Mykolaiv and Voznesensk. The small city of Voznesensk is already under extreme stress and will be overwhelmed, and the refugees will need immediate help. PLEASE GIVE THEM A HAND.
I am in partnership with the Stevens Point Rotary Club, the Community Foundation of Central Wisconsin and Project CURE. “Project C.U.R.E. is the largest provider of donated medical supplies in the world..." and is the recipient of the GuideStar Exchange Platinum Seal, the Charity Navigator Four-Star Rating (their highest) and ranked by Forbes as one of the 20 Most Efficient Large U.S. Charities.”
We have raised enough money to send a 40-foot shipping container with $350,000 to $400,000 worth of hospital equipment and medical supplies from Project CURE to City Hospital #4 in Mykolaiv. We consider that a huge success and it will be on its way very soon.
And we have gathered almost 4,000 pounds of medical supplies and humanitarian goods for Voznesensk during donation drives in Madison and Stevens Point, WI.
Another big success. Those goods are in 220 boxes in a warehouse in Madison awaiting shipment.
Our goal now is to raise $1,000 to buy five more CURE Kits from Project CURE (to add to the five Kits we have already)
[A CURE Kit is comprised of two rugged canvas totes designed for First Responders to take into conflict/disaster zones. Each tote weighs 25 lbs. A 50 lb Kit holds $2,000 worth of medical supplies.]
...and we must raise about $6,500 to ship those goods to Voznesensk. This is where we need immediate help.
The first leg of the trip is from Madison to the Meest Express terminal in Port Reading, NJ. American Logistics Aid Network will arrange free transportation to Meest; Meest will unpack, inspect and repack the boxes and then, based on deeply discounted rates of $2.23 / lb for air shipments, and $0.99 / lb for sea shipments, send us a request for payment to ship to Voznesensk.
About 750 lbs of Emergency Medical Supplies will be shipped by air, the rest will be shipped by sea.
I spent five years working in Mykolaiv and Voznesensk while based at Petro Mohyla Black Sea National University and I know and trust the recipients of the supplies. Your donations will go to good people doing good work for refugees in dire need, and I will be there as soon as possible to monitor the situation.
My nephew and I took three CURE Kits to them in August, so we were face-to-face with them in Ukraine, and they are fantastic--and very impressed by the contents of the Kits.
What we are doing?
Conducting fundraising to buy and send CURE Kits along with nearly 4,000 lbs of Humanitarian goods we've collected for VozHromada, a government-approved non-profit organization in Voznesensk. Our GFM goal is $7,500

Tax-deductible donations adding up to $200 will buy a CURE Kit holding $2,000 worth of medical supplies for First Responders. For just $2,000 we can get $20,000 worth of medical supplies to add to the supplies we've gathered during our Donation Days.
A sponsorship of $27,366 has already netted $350,000 to $400,000 worth of hospital equipment and medical supplies for Mykolaiv and we can make an even bigger difference if you can help us get the humanitarian goods delivered to Voznesensk.
