Help Maine Girl Study Abroad

Hello! My name is Ada Fisher. I’m a sophomore at a public highschool in a rural fishing community of Maine. I’ve always wished to study abroad, and now I have the chance! If all goes well, I will leave in August of 2022 to spend the following semester in Argentina.

I have lived in Maine all my life. We have a very close-knit community built from multiple generations. My parents are self-employed artisans. I love my home, but I wish to see the world and all it has to offer. I hope to explore South American culture by cooking new food, becoming fluent in Spanish, and exploring a new environment.

I am a strong, independent young woman. Going somewhere new, and vastly different from my home, will give me the experience of a lifetime. I want to forge connections and be part of a new community to learn about the differences, as well as the similarities, that we all share as people.

Currently, I run for my school’s varsity cross-country and track teams. I am on the student leadership team, and have a 3.9 GPA. I spend my summers running, hiking, and camping in the surrounding wilderness. I have taken Spanish classes to prepare myself for this cultural immersion.

The majority of my expenses go to paying the AFS program department. They organize my stay and host family. Along with that, I need to pay for my own transportation to the city US students leave from.

This experience would mean the world to me. It is an amazing opportunity that I have dreamt of for the longest time. A share to social media or a donation of any size is appreciated. Thank you for your help.
