HELP SKUNK TO WALK WITHOUT TERRIBLE PAIN - PLEASE!
Detraibile fiscalmente
We found him severely injured, hiding under a bush, unable to walk, dragging his hind quarters, and clearly in pain. We rushed him to an emergency vet clinic where they diagnosed he had dislocated both hips. One suggestion was to put him to sleep, because he is an outdoor “neighborhood cat” fed by kind people but without an “owner.” The alternative is FHO surgery (femoral head ostectomy), a very expensive procedure to allow Skunk to regain his ability to walk without pain.
Skunk is a long-time neighborhood buddy, neutered years ago, sweet and friendly. Folks believe he must once have been somebody’s pet, along with his inseparable sister, Breadloaf. We simply had to save him! He has many good years ahead.
We’re raising money to cover half the cost of the surgery plus follow-up treatments. All donations will go to his medical expenses, and are tax-deductible. Palo Alto Humane Society will pay the other half out of their Animal Rescue Fund, and they have fronted the total amount to the vet clinic so that Skunk can get his surgery immediately, before further damage occurs. They also helped connect us with a wonderful experienced foster home for his several months recuperation.

Please donate what you can to give Skunk a bright future.

PAHS is one of the few humane societies nationwide with no animal shelter. For a century, our mission has been to alleviate the suffering of animals, increase public sensitivity to animal issues, and elevate the status of animals in our society.
