For 30 years, Peña Pachamama has been more than a venue~it has been a home for artists, a gathering place for community, and a refuge where music and spirit meet.
Today, this beloved space is at a turning point. After decades of continuous work, we are facing financial pressures that threaten our ability to continue. We are asking, with humility and hope, for your support to help keep Peña Pachamama alive.
Your contribution~at any level~helps protect a living cultural legacy. If you believe places like Peña Pachamama still matter, please help us now.
Before Peña Pachamama existed…
before the 35 years of concerts, recordings, and the crazy idea of opening a 'peña' in San Francisco…
there were two teenagers who didn’t know each other yet.
One was sketching dreams in California, having refused to trade imagination for grades.
The other was playing music and sports in the mountains of Bolivia, refusing to stop for any teacher who demanded conformity.
Both were labeled “bad students.”
Both were told to be practical.
Both ignored the advice.
They didn’t know each other, but they were already walking the same path.
Years later, they met ~ not to settle down, but to make the rebellion bigger:
Creating music together and opening a peña when everyone said, “Do something normal.”
Turning a forgotten speakeasy into a sanctuary for art, culture, and joy.
35 years later, they’re still rebels.
Only now, the cause is clear:
To celebrate life through music, dance, and community.
To keep the spirit of Pachamama alive.
To inspire others to be bold, creative, and beautifully unordinary.
Welcome to Peña Pachamama.
Every contribution ~ no matter the size ~ fuels the next chapter of our creative rebellion. Whatever you are able to give, we receive with gratitude and joy.

Your donation ~ at any level ~ helps sustain Peña Pachamama’s music, dance, artists, and our cultural programs for the coming year.

"For our Mother Earth and all of us, North Beach's Peña Pachamama: the
cuisine, the music, and the atmosphere all say the same thing; love is the way."
- Dr. Will Tuttle, author The World Peace Diet
"The Peña Pachamama serves up what feels like the best of what San
Francisco has long striven to be. Inside the Peña's massive door, you'll find the spirit of fun and adventure that dates back to the days of the Barbary Coast, which reveled not far from the Peña's location in the North Beach neighborhood. There's the sound of happy music, evocative of the time when nearby Broadway and Pacifc Avenue housed clubs drawing both locals and tourists. There's the attractive energy of international dance, showcasing the city's dynamic diversity. There are delectable food and drink, for which San Francisco has been a dining destination for over a century. All of this under one roof in an historical location " -Jeff Kaliss, author, contributing for SF Chronicle, Oakland Tribune, Alta Journal
