My name is Óscar Eduardo Triana, I am 32 years old, and I have been an optometrist since 2017.

In 2021, I was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia, a type of blood cancer. I received the recommended treatment and, as the best option, underwent a bone marrow transplant. Thanks to God and the support of my family, I overcame that battle. However, eight months after the transplant, I developed chronic GVHD (Graft-versus-Host Disease) grade 3–4, a condition in which the donated cells attack the body itself. Some organs were severely affected, and over time I have tried to live with this condition and recover my health.

Today, my lungs are compromised, and I have had to be urgently hospitalized. Doctors have informed me that I cannot return to my profession, as my immune system remains weakened and I must avoid risks to preserve my organs.

For this reason, I will be on indefinite medical leave. At the moment, I have no income to cover basic expenses such as transportation for medical appointments, rent, and living costs. Any help, no matter how small, would be a great relief during this very difficult time.

Mi nombre es Óscar Eduardo Triana, tengo 32 años y soy optómetra desde 2017.

En 2021 fui diagnosticado con leucemia linfoblástica aguda, un tipo de cáncer en la sangre. Recibí el tratamiento indicado y, como mejor opción, me realizaron un trasplante de médula ósea. Gracias a Dios y al apoyo de mi familia, superé esa batalla.

Sin embargo, ocho meses después del trasplante desarrollé EICH crónico grado 3-4, una enfermedad en la que las células donadas atacan el propio cuerpo. Algunos órganos resultaron gravemente afectados, y con el tiempo he tratado de vivir con esta condición y recuperar mi salud.

Hoy, mis pulmones están comprometidos y he debido ser hospitalizado de urgencia. Los médicos me han indicado que no puedo retomar mi profesión, ya que mi sistema inmunológico permanece debilitado y debo evitar riesgos para preservar mis órganos.

Por este motivo, estaré incapacitado por tiempo indefinido. En este momento no cuento con ingresos para cubrir gastos básicos como transporte para controles médicos, arriendo y manutención. Cualquier ayuda, por pequeña que sea, será un gran alivio en esta etapa tan difícil.
