Barney is our much-loved Golden Retriever, and he isn't just a dog to us, he is a huge part of our family. He is loving, funny, affectionate and has brought so much happiness into our home.

Over the last few days, Barney has become seriously unwell.

We have taken him to the vet and they have carried out some tests, which have confirmed Barney has a serious condition requiring an emergency operation.

We are doing everything we possibly can to give Barney the best chance of pulling through. The problem is that the treatment and investigations he needs are going to be very expensive, and we are struggling to find the money needed to cover the costs. This could not have come at a worse time as we are currently going through financial difficulties.

Our insurance cover is insufficient to cover the costs, which could be as much as £10,000, and there may also be treatment costs that aren't covered by the policy. We simply don't want money to be the reason we have to make an impossible decision about our boy.

Anyone who knows us knows how much our dogs mean to our family. Barney deserves every chance we can give him.We are therefore asking, very humbly, for help.If you are able to donate anything at all, even £5, it would mean more to us than we can possibly put into words.
