Hello there!

My name is Koryn John, I am a single mother to a 10 year old daughter with another little boy on the way. I have 2 other babies, my little teacup Chihuahua Louie (8) and My precious little Lodi (3). Lodi is the light of our life and is so gentle, and innocent and a huge part of our family! Our little chihuahua Louie just adores him and even likes to snuggle with him to steal his warmth, and he can because Lodi is the most snuggly cat you’ll ever meet !! Everybody who meets him just falls in love with him. Every night he sleeps with us and demands affection every time we come home.

Unfortunately, 2 nights ago Lodi jumped out our living room window (landlord put in the new window with a hole in the screen) and was gone for 24 hours. Late last night my daughter and I were feeling very worried. I was feeling sick to my stomach but tried not to show it. I smiled and told my daughter he’ll be home soon he probably just found himself a girlfriend! Before bed my daughter shook treats at the door and he came inside. We both screamed his name and jumped up to see him and love him but he immediately ran under the kitchen table which is unlike him. He’s a chonkers so he usually runs to his food or runs to meow at us and yell at us telling us he wants attention and kisses. I then noticed that his left back leg was dangling. Very badly. We laid on the ground with him for a bit and gave him kisses and pets while I called emergency vet clinics with no help. Was told no emergency vets will take non clients after hours. So my daughter and I set up blankets and pillows in the living room to sleep, while Lodi slept in a crate that we brought into the living room with blankets since he felt safe there.

First thing in the morning I woke up and called vets all over tbay and was told no, over and over again. Feeling hopeless I dialed the last vet on my list which was the Thunder Bay Veterinary Clinic. At first they said no, to which I just broke down crying on the phone. The receptionist asked what’s wrong and I said I think my cat was hit by a car and explained the situation and she gasped and told me to wait on hold for a moment. She came back and told me to bring him in immediately. We brought him in and the vet said it does look like he was hit by a vehicle judging by the road rash on his face, and bruises & scrapes on his head/ear plus blood on the white of his eyes. We left him in their care while they gave him pain management as well as blood tests and X-rays.

That was this morning and about an hour ago around 1pm I got a call back from the vets. The doctor explained that his leg is very badly broken. He broke his Tibia and his Fibula, one break by the ankle and one by the knee which explains his leg dangling. She said other than that he has no internal damage which was so great to hear. Now, the options are surgery to get metal plates & screws which will be about $3600+ OR amputation which will be $4000. She said the other option would be end of life but that isn’t an option! I said I would do anything to come up with the money. She mentioned an Organization called Kitty Care so I emailed them asking for any help they can give and currently waiting for a response. I am now making this Go Fund Me asking anyone for any type of help they can offer. I’ve never done anything like this before but I am desperate. If you cannot donate please share this link!! I have not decided for sure yet if we will do amputation or surgery. I’m leading towards the surgery but I want to talk to the vet more about what complications that could bring. Which is safer? If I could even come up with half of the money I would be so grateful !! I have a few days to decide what route I want to go, and surgery will be next week.
