PLEASE HELP FUND BIGGIES EMERGENCY SURGERY

Hello, my name is Lauren. I'm doing this fundraiser today to help raise money for my cousin Emily's cat. Biggie is a 5 year old Tabby that is extremely gentle. He love's everybody. Unfortunately, on April 8, 2024, Biggie was rushed into the ER. He was straining to urinate and in pain. He was diagnosed with a urinary obstruction. His bladder was full of sediment and crystals. Biggie was then brought into his primary vet to get a catheter inserted along with fluid IV'S to help drain his bladder, as well as to hopefully flush out the crystals that accumulated. After that, he was then brought to VEG animal hospital where he ripped his catheter twice. After he removed it for the second time they decided to refrain from inserting it again to avoid trauma to his urethra. He was discharged and sent home with medication to monitor his pee output. A week in his pees got less and less. When we went to the follow up with the vet, she was concerned he was blocking again. Less than 24 hours later he was admitted into Long Island Veterinary Specialists in Plainview. They are currently treating him. They explained he needs surgery, a perineal urethrostomy where they reroute the urethra through the anus. This is to widen the urethra and make the urine pathway easier to flow. If we didn't do the surgery, he would keep blocking and eventually would lead to his death. The vet said the surgery has a 95% success rate which means a 95% chance he will never have a blockage again. The cost of all of these visits from hospital to hospital, including the surgery, has been astronomical.
