Kim Pape-Green suddenly left us on Tuesday, January 23rd. A devoted activist, loyal friend and adored Mother, she has left a huge hole behind her.
Surviving her are her three children: myself - Kendra (25), Michael (22) and Abe (16), all of whom are devastated by this loss so unfairly early in our lives.
All three of us were living at home with Mom as she worked two jobs to support the household and our father, Tim Green, who is in an independent assisted living home due to having a rare blood cancer called Erdheim-Chester Disease. We adult children helped contribute to the household and support both our mother and our younger sibling.
Any money raised in this GoFundMe would go towards maintaining the household - paying the bills, buying food, transportation, taking care of Abe, and in the spring, keeping Mom's beloved garden beautiful and blooming.
Neighbours and friends have approached asking if we're going to do a GoFundMe - even insisting that we should, to make sure that what money Mom left us will stretch farther and longer. While Michael and Kendra working, and Kendra and her wife Jess are even planning to start selling homemade skincare and bath goodies soon, every penny counts and helps us work towards some kind of healing. Abe's off to college in a few years and Michael is hoping to return to school and take up a baking course so he can pursue his dream of working in a hotel, like Mom always hoped he might.
I know it says our goal is $5000, but honestly, every bit of the outpouring of generosity we've experienced has been incredibly humbling. Neighbours have brought us food, friends of Mom have pressed some money in my hand and urged me to do this.
