My Story
I’ve been diagnosed with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). If you’re not familiar with it, it’s a mental health condition that’s triggered by a terrifying event — either experiencing it or witnessing it. While I’m not quite ready to share why I have PTSD or what my symptoms are suffice it to know it interferes with my ability to go about normal daily tasks. You can learn more here if you’d like. I’m in therapy, I take medication, and this spring my doctor wrote me a prescription for a certified Pyschiatric Service Dog. I’m fundraising for that dog. My name is Sophia Brakesman. I’m 16 years old.
Fundraising Goals
My goal is to raise $17,000. This will be spent on the training and certification of my psychiatric service dog (which includes my training too).

Meet Olive
Olive was born on March 1, 2018. She is a solid black German Shepherd from what is known as "DDR" bloodlines. She was bred by Kim Haegely in Lower Lake, CA and selected at 8 weeks of age to be my future service dog by trainer Dennis Gulla of Sierra Canine . Olive has been my lifeline. My bestie. My summer buddy and my partner. We've already been learning together and now it's time for her to go to boarding school. I'm ever so grateful for any amount you can donate.
