Shamah's Survival Story

Hi, my name is Aqeela, and I’m fundraising for my mom.

I have watched my mom struggle financially and emotionally as a single mother with social anxiety disorder and major depressive disorder all my life.

As her eldest daughter, I must continue supporting her, and I haven’t been able to do so the way I should. Last year, I worked two jobs to help pay our utility bills. It’s made me realize that the real world is far scarier than what meets the eye.

The doctors have diagnosed her since she was 21, and being a single parent hasn’t been easy for her.

She worked at a company for seven years, but unfortunately, she was laid off due to the company moving to Chicago, IL and ever since then, she hasn’t found a permanent/stable job since 06-2020.

The funds would be used to help pay the bills for the needs of two kids under the age of 18 and the needs of three cats.

As stated before, my mom, Shamah, has struggled so much financially. Gathering the money to be able to pay for bills, groceries, mortgage, and many other needed things has been so difficult. Even the youngest has been trying to get a job to help with anything she can.

Unfortunately, my mom has never gotten child support since my parents divorced in 01-2019. Taking care of us as a two-income household while going to college to earn her undergraduate and master’s degrees. She gave us everything she could and continues to try her best.

With the three cats, we plan on giving up the youngest of the three because of this situation and her having Feline Leukemia. We feel guilty for giving her up, but there are many cons to why she can’t be here. She could easily give it to our 1-year-old cats, and we don’t have the funds to take care of her medical bills. She’s a sweet kitty, and it pains us to give her up. We hope she goes to a beautiful home and can take care of her needs.
