Daisy’s Surgery
Donazione protetta

A week ago, we took one of our two Bullmastiff dogs, Diesel, to the vet hospital as his stomach was unusually large and he wasn’t acting like himself. Shortly after arriving, we found out that Diesel had been suffering from cancer for the past two months and his stomach was filling with blood. Due to the unfortunate chances, we made the difficult decision to put him down and end his suffering. After just a few days, we noticed a limp in Daisy’s walk (our other dog). We took her to the vet and found out that she ruptured her cranial cruciate ligament (CCL) and will need a TPLO (tibial plateau levelling osteotomy) surgery, an expensive procedure especially for a dog her size.
It’s unfortunate that a lot of people have lost their jobs during the pandemic and this includes some members in our family, hence we’ve been unable to put together the money to book her surgery. She’s currently on painkillers but we don’t want to prolong this for her. All the money raised will go directly into Daisy’s medical bill (surgery, supplies & medicine). We understand that this past year has been extremely difficult for so many people and you may not be in the position to donate. However, simply sharing this page means a lot and helps more than you know.
From the bottom of our hearts, we thank you.
Detailed information:
As first-time dog owners we were so excited to have Diesel in our lives, so much that we got another puppy two years later; Daisy. Diesel’s a gentle giant; quiet almost all the time, but when he feels the need to protect us, he never hesitates to. Daisy grew up with Diesel her whole life, basically since we got her as a little puppy. She’s the opposite of Diesel; always so energetic, a happy dog who greets everyone with a wagging tail and her tongue out. They lived every day with us in routine. They even slept in my parents’ bed every single night; they’re truly the babies of the family. Four days before Christmas, we noticed Diesel was unlike himself. More quiet than usual, unwilling to get up for food and his stomach was alarmingly large. If you’ve ever had a pet, you almost feel something in your gut when there’s something wrong with them, but you don’t want to believe it. We all had this feeling. We took Diesel to the hospital and were shortly informed that Diesel had been suffering from cancer for the past two months and his abdomen was filling with blood. We had two choices; to perform surgery and put him through chemo or to “put him to sleep.” The vet informed us that his dog went through the same situation; was sick with cancer, proceeded with the surgery and chemo, was estimated to live for another 3 months but unfortunately, only got 3 weeks. We knew Diesel was getting old (nearly 8) and did not want him to suffer any longer than he already had. We spent Diesel’s final hours with him in the vet; feeding him ice cream and cheese whiz, taking turns holding him and giving our thank yous and goodbyes. The sadness that we’ve felt during the past few days were far beyond what could’ve imagined since Diesel was our first family pet. But we’ve been blessed to have each other, especially Daisy, during these difficult times.
Less than a week later, we took Daisy to the vet because we found her limping and she, too, was unlike herself. Daisy had ruptured her CCL (cranial cruciate ligament) and needs to get a TPLO (tibial plateau levelling osteotomy) surgery, a costly surgery especially for a dog her size. After what happened to Diesel, we were relieved to hear of a solution to her injury. However, with the jobs lost in our family and the bill we just recently paid for Diesel’s loss, we are unable to put together the money needed for Daisy’s surgery. As mentioned, all the money raised will go directly towards Daisy’s medical bill (surgery, supplies & medicine). Every little bit counts, but we completely understand that everyone has their own hardships; financial or otherwise. We would like to book her surgery as soon as possible so she won’t have to be in pain for much longer and can go back to her happy, energetic self. However if you’re unable to donate, sharing this post means a lot to us and makes a huge difference! We truly appreciate you taking the time to learn more about Diesel & Daisy and we thank you so much for every bit of help.
