Mitchell needs surgery to live a normal life.

I have started this Go Fund Me on behalf of Mitchell (pictured), who needs some serious surgery and very soon, to stop his face from wasting away. This surgery is incredibly involved and intricate in parts with a big bill, that he and his mother have no way of being able to afford on their own.

First, let me introduce you this remarkable young man named Mitchell - he is just 30 years old and dreams of being a famous DJ.

Mitchell's life has been marked by incredible courage and resilience as he battles against the odds. At the tender age of four, he was diagnosed with a rare and debilitating disorder known as Parry Romberg syndrome, also referred to as progressive facial hemiatrophy.

Parry Romberg syndrome is a condition that progressively causes the wasting away of the tissues on one side of the face causing it to shrink and waste away. Mitchell's journey has been filled with countless challenges, but he has faced them all with unwavering determination and a spirit that refuses to be defeated.

The Parry-Romberg syndrome has left Mitchell with serious facial disfiguration, jaw bone loss, facial pain at times, jaw spasms, retina and optic nerve issues along with soft tissue gaps inside the roof of the mouth.

Despite the difficulties he has faced, Mitchell has persevered, and he has maintained his positive outlook on life. He has grown into a remarkable young man with dreams, aspirations, and a desire to lead a life like any other young person his age. However, the progression of his condition has now reached a critical point, and he is in dire need of involved facial reconstruction and subsequent plastic surgery to restore his appearance and, his self-esteem and more importantly, his ability to function each day.

The estimated cost of the necessary surgical procedures, as provided by medical specialists, amounts to a staggering $30,000. This financial burden is far beyond the means of Mitchell and his devoted mother, Deb, who has been by his side every step of the way. Deb lives on a disability pension and has no way of being able to afford any part of this surgery as she has struggled to pay for surgeries to this point. It is a heart-wrenching reality that they are facing a financial barrier that threatens to stand in the way of Mitchell's much-needed surgery.
