Miguel Antunes Repatriation to Zimbabwe
Donation protected
Saying what the loss of Miguel Antunes means, is an extraordinary challenge.
It isn't hard to imagine that Saturday 27 June 2020 started with Miguel calling to check on someone or sending an encouraging text about something challenging that a friend or family member was going through; somehow people felt safe confiding in Miguel. He was an excellent listener and put the needs of others ahead of his own. That day there was perfect, sunny weather for a motorbike ride. A ride that ended in an accident that claimed the life of an honourable son, and a remarkable friend. A true gentleman.
We have lost such a beautiful soul; his absence echoes through so many lives. We can only allow him to live on, in memory; the joy that emanated from that smile of his, and the love in his endless hugs. Miguel may not be here to continue to light up every room he enters, but he inspires us to do the same.
Miguel, we are hurt and we do not understand. We find solace in sharing stories with each other of how you spread joy and cared for others. We remember your quick laugh and how you loved to dance. Thank you for showing us how life should be lived to the fullest and how to find happiness everywhere. We are going to make you proud by following that example everyday. See you soon.
We've created this GoFundMe campaign to help with immediate costs associated with repatriating Miguel home to Zimbabwe to be with his dear mother and family, and to be laid to rest. Our goal is to help ease the financial burden on Miguel's family in this difficult time and pay tribute to Miguel the way he deserves. Anything you can give would be greatly appreciated.
“Hug your loved ones a little tighter today and every day. Spend a little more time together, leave nothing unsaid and leave no space for regrets. Tomorrow is not promised and today is short.” – Miguel Antunes
Mila Owen, Miguel’s cousin will be acting on behalf of Miguel, his mother and their family and will be making the arrangements for his repatriation as well as arrangements to send any excess funds to his mother in Zimbabwe for her support.
