Hi everyone, my name is Gina Attilano. I am a nurse and part of a group of volunteers who have come together to provide free medical services to underdeveloped communities in remote areas.
In February 2020, our group visited several far-off areas in the mountains of Peru, providing free medical services to roughly 500 people. In these locations, we were able to educate, diagnose, and treat diseases such as diabetes, hypertension, parasite infections, malnutrition, and others.
As much as we wanted to continue to offer our services, COVID made it impossible. Fortunately, the doors are opening again! I am thrilled to announce that in January 2024, our team will be heading to Liberia. Our goal is to provide medical services to Liberians living in the villages around the Capital city of Monrovia and share the Gospel of Salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ.
Liberia is a country in West Africa founded in the 1800s by free people of color from the United States. It is considered one of the poorest countries in Africa. The 14 years of civil war have led the country to devastation. 54% of Liberia's population lives under the poverty line. The outbreak of Eboli in 2014 caused schools to close, and children could not complete their education. The crisis of water contamination and proper sanitation contributes to the spread of infectious diseases. There is a lack of well-equipped hospitals and health facilities in rural areas, and consequently, many people die from preventable and curable diseases.
While our volunteers are responsible for travel expenses, we urgently need to acquire medical supplies and medications to provide efficient healthcare services. Therefore, we appeal to your generosity and willingness to help our brothers and sisters of Liberia. You can follow our progress through the pictures we share on social media (Facebook: Gina Attilano) and feel you are with us.
While we acknowledge our limitations in providing all the medical help they could use, we know with God's help and yours, we can make a difference. Please, help us help our brothers and sisters from Liberia.
May the Lord bless you today and always! ❤️❤️❤️
