OLD - Keep SMAC Special!

Hey All,
    We are the Stone Mountain Arts Center (www.stonemountainartscenter.com) in the willy wags of Brownfield Maine.  My husband Jeff, a commercial fishing net builder and myself, a musician, opened it up 10 years ago so we could bring music up here to the country all year long in very special way to a very special part of rural Maine. 
   Behind my 1810 farmhouse sits a barn  where huge artists grace the stage year round....artists like Lyle Lovett, Mary Chapin Carpenter, Brandi Carlisle and Bruce Hornsby and many more, to name drop a few. But we are also a place where an unknown artist can come play to a full room and get paid, and a patron can come see them for free.
 

We continue to be a different kind of music venue. We are small, under 200 seats, and we treat our artists and staff like family. We are a place where we book shows to just keep our staff working when we could close for a season. We make the performer feel like the artists they are. We know all our customers...they are our friends and neighbors. And the musicians that come here are hooked on us for life. 
        
  To make this place so special our bottom line is more than most places. So we live on little here. And when we need to make improvements, or put on a free show,  or take a loss on a ticketed show, sometimes it is hard to make up for that. This summer like each summer we made lots of improvements. We hope everyone noticed. And we are still not done. We will never be done. There are many more building tasks Jeff has on his list, and we need to replace our stage lighting system, and add another generator, and much more . That list goes on and on. So we do lots of promotions to sell passes and ticket deals to help with that. But a friend of mine said, why not crowd fund to help with some of these costs each year...there are lots of people out there that love you and love what you are doing...that dont even live here! The Irish in me hates to ask, but the person who loves this place as much as I have come to love SMAC  ( as we call it for short), and the people who work and play here has little humility when it comes to making sure it always continues to be a special kind of haven for our performers, staff and audience. 
          

So, here goes, all you crowd funders...you can make a difference. You can support places that are different and special and small and worthy. P.S. Rewards:

The guest book collection is one of our most valuable momentos...we have dressing room books that were signed by artists over ten years!!
