Keep Blunt Kitchen Cooking for Swannanoa
Donation protected
We are Blunt Kitchen, a grassroots, volunteer-powered kitchen based in Swannanoa — a small town still reeling from the devastation of Hurricane Helene. In the days immediately following the storm, thanks to tireless volunteers, donated equipment, and community support, we transformed a small pretzel bakery into a community food hub, eventually serving 2,000 free, hot meals a day to families in need.
Since then, we’ve prepared and served over 120,000 nourishing meals, all made with local ingredients and love. Blunt Kitchen has become more than a kitchen — it’s a lifeline, a community hub, and a symbol of hope.
But now, we’re facing a critical setback.
Most of the kitchen equipment we rely on was generously loaned to us. As donors now need their items returned, we’re at risk of losing our ability to cook in the quantities needed to effectively serve the community.
Thankfully, we recently received a food truck — a huge step forward! But it’s not operational yet. We urgently need funds to renovate it and fully equip it with:
A commercial stovetop
A proper ventilation hood
Heavy-duty shelving
A 30-gallon tilt braiser
The installation of this equipment will allow us to continue addressing food scarcity in our local community and give us the tools we need to foster food sovereignty.
We “knead” the dough. Every dollar brings us closer to reopening in a fully equipped food truck and continuing our work with dignity, community, and resilience at its heart.
Thank you for believing in community care.
Thank you for fueling our fire.
