My nephew Josh White unfortunately found out recently at 19 years old that he was diagnosed with Lymphoma.
We are asking for everyone’s heartfelt consideration to support Josh, who was set to graduate this May from Grace College in Indiana, but will be staying in Florida to receive treatment.
His parents, my brother, Chris, and his wife, Linda, had recently relocated to Florida from Pennsylvania. While home over Winter break, Josh continued to suffer from lower back pain, a condition that was being treated as a pulled muscle since October.
The pain grew increasingly worse. One morning, Josh was taken to the Primary care physician by his parents. The PCP diagnosed a herniated disc and ordered an MRI to confirm. Much to the shock of Josh, his family and the doctors, the MRI instead showed two masses on his lower vertebrae, two cracked vertebrae, and a small herniated disc. Josh’s pain intensified, and he could no longer wait for referrals to see specialists, so my brother rushed him to the local ER. Once there, he was given an initial review and was quickly transferred to the Orlando Health Medical Center. Josh remained in the hospital for ten days of aggressive, around-the-clock testing and imaging. Ultimately, the Orlando Health Medical Center diagnosed Josh with T cell Lymphoma. The Medical Center advised that treatment for his cancer should begin immediately.
Josh started an aggressive six-month treatment plan of chemotherapy to hopefully send the lymphoma into remission. He has been given a regimen of multiple drugs, in addition to the chemotherapy. My brother and his wife are diligently focused on helping to administer the extensive medications that Josh is taking, in addition to the chemo treatment he receives every three weeks. To take care of Josh through all of this, both parents will need to take occasional and frequent days off from work to support Josh's care and appointments. Our family is very strong, and we are doing everything we can to support Josh and his parents. However, we kindly need your help. We know the unexpected medical bills and expenses are extensive, and Chris and Linda are managing this with the loss of wages due to being away from work (in addition to supporting their two other children). Unfortunately, having recently moved to Florida, neither Chris nor Linda are eligible for FMLA from their employers.
Any donation, no matter the amount, will go a long way in helping the family cover the intense costs of Josh’s treatment. We truly appreciate your support during this challenging time. Thank you very much for your consideration.
Donations will solely go to cover the following:
* Unexpected medical bills and expenses that insurance doesn’t cover
* Transportation to and from treatments
* Medications and OTC expenses
* Lost wages as the parents take multiple leaves from work to be with Josh during appointments and challenging days during chemo treatments
