Billboard and Mural to Honor Zachary Bear Heels
Doação protegida
A group of Native American advocates is raising money to purchase billboard space in Omaha to use to commemorate the life of Zachary Bear Heels, a 29-year-old Rosebud Lakota and Kiowa man who died June 5, 2017, in Omaha at the hands of four police officers. None of the officers who shocked him, beat him and smothered him that night have ever been held criminally responsible for his murder, and we want to remind Omahans and the City of Omaha of their responsibility for his death. We also want to call on state leaders to ensure officers who kill innocent people are held accountable.
This group also is raising money to pay a Native artist to paint a mural of Zachary alongside imagery of Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women on the Lincoln Indian Center in Lincoln, Nebraska.
Please consider helping us ensure Zachary's life is not forgotten and that no one else suffer his fate at the hands of Nebraska police.
