Laura and John DePablos built a beautiful life together, generously opening their home and their hearts to foster and eventually adopt, four of their five children. They navigated the challenges of raising five kids with grace and a sense of humor, never wavering from their goal to provide them with the stability and love they so desperately needed and deserved.

With broken hearts, we share the tragic news that Laura has passed away after suffering a fatal brain aneurysm, and John and the kids must now find a way to rebuild their lives after this profound loss.

Laura's greatest joy was her children, and she was determined to create a pathway for them to fulfill their dreams and reach their highest potential. She devoted countless hours of volunteer time to their public schools, spearheading and chairing multiple initiatives to enhance educational experiences and create new opportunities for all students.

Laura was courageous, smart, witty, compassionate, and above all - kind. She was fiercely loyal to her friends and family, and gave of herself freely in every way to everyone who had the privilege of knowing her. Always willing to help, Laura never said no when asked for a favor - even while raising five kids! Incredibly talented, Laura could custom make practically anything as a skilled seamstress, artisan and craftsperson. She was not only the life of any party, but chances are she was also the planner, decorator, and chef. She lit up any room with her brilliance and beauty, and made everyone feel like the center of attention.

Laura was also an organ donor, continuing her selfless heroism even at the end, giving hope and healing to people she had never even met. She gave so much to so many, and we invite you now to give back to Laura.

All funds raised through this page will go directly into a college savings fund for Leia, Sabine, Ben, Isiah, and Luke, paving the road to their higher education with the love and support of the community Laura impacted so greatly.
