Help Us Move Towards Stable Housing
Donation protected
Hello,
My name is Karmin, and my partner's name is Jazzy. I’m a 22 year old nonbinary wolf/coyote/lycan therian. Jazzy is a trans guy, wolf therian, and is also 22. Some of you may know me as @Lycandoit or @Lycandothings on social media. Despite my hiatus from X and Blusky, Jazzy and I are very involved in the therian community, and want to make as much of a positive impact on the community as we can!
(Edit #4**): Due to payment deferments, we were able to lower our goal down from $5k, which included expenses for our two month grace period originally. To cover the remainder of just what we need to support ourselves for our first month with rent and fuel.
(Edit #3**): We made enough for the travel expenses to get to our new home with all of your help, and arrived recently! <3
(Edit #2: Jazzy received a job offer and will be due to start sometime at the end of our first month.)
(Edit #1: Our deadline has been extended to Aug 3rd. - My dad wants to see us before our move, so we will be seeing him between the 28th - 2nd. Our friend has allowed us to keep our stuff here after the 31st, and we will be leaving for our new home on the 3rd.)
We’ve lived in New England for a year now, and this region has very much been a home to us. We have met so many wonderful critters and people, and have made some of the best friends anyone could ever ask for! <3 - However, we were recently kicked out of a rather risky living situation in New Hampshire, due to our house going up for sale. We are temporarily staying with some friends in Massachusetts until July 31st, but otherwise had nowhere to go after. Until we were recently offered an opportunity.
We’ve recently been offered an opportunity for stable housing, and a place to call home in Bellevue, Washington. We are asking for your help in funding our move to our new home so we can settle, start our lives, and keep a roof over our heads.
When we left for New Hampshire last year, important financial details regarding the home such as the mortgage situation and intent to sell were not disclosed to us. This information was finally disclosed to us in February, a half a year after we moved in. During this conversation, we were told that the owners were going to put our house on the market in the coming months. - This affected our mental health greatly and made us worried, since we weren’t sure what was going to happen. - Eventually on April 21st, Jazzy and I were told to keep our rent money and vacate within 30 days.
This situation has been really rough for us. There has been a lot to figure out, and the fear of going out on the streets for the first time in our lives has been a recurring thought. What happened has really affected our lives in so many ways, besides just losing our home. - Jazzy and I have two ferrets whom we love to bits. One thing we’ve discovered is that it is extremely challenging to find a place with ferrets, and it disqualifies us from lots of places. Due to needing a place as urgently as possible, we have come to the hard decision that we will have to temporarily foster them for the foreseeable future. The friends we are staying with have offered to foster them for us. - The good news is that we may be able to get them back with this new home in Washington. We just have to get on the lease first and get situated. This means we have also found a home where we can potentially have our pets.
After our 30 days ended, we were offered a place to stay temporarily until July with some of our friends who have graciously welcomed us into their home. However, our deadline of July 31st is approaching fast and we’re very concerned that we won’t be able to make enough to afford housing. - Our new roommates in Washington, who are good friends of ours, reached out to us and invited us to move in with them. This means we will have an opportunity to have stable housing and start our lives. - They have also allowed us a two month period to get situated and find work before signing the lease, as long as we can support ourselves during that time.
Moving to Washington is not something either of us would’ve ever asked for help with. - I have always tried to work for everything in life, and the two of us have never faced going homeless before. It was truly a shock, and it’s left us worried and afraid. I’ve always been afraid to ask for help too, but some really wonderful critters have convinced me that it is okay. <3
Jazzy and I are very grateful for the love, support, reassurance, temporary housing, soon to be permanent housing, and more that all of you have provided us in some way. We wish we had the ability to express this properly, but it’s hard to emphasize emotions over text.
The money from the GoFundMe will help cover:
- Trip Necessities (Gas, Food, etc.) (Covered! Thank you all so much! <3)
- Rent/Expenses for the first month. (Originally two months, but through additional help and Jazzy starting work soon, we were able to reduce the amount.)
This opportunity will make it possible for us to keep a roof over our heads, start our future, and settle down. It gives us hope and the ability to rebuild after the situation we’ve gone through. Having a place to call home will lift a tremendous weight that’s been looming on our shoulders. - It will also make it possible for us to continue working on our hobbies and passions, and pick up new ones we have been wanting to learn for a while.
We will also be in an area with lots of other therians and be able to involve ourselves in the community more. It has always been my goal to make a positive impact. I was given the opportunity to help with some events down the line for a therian related project as well. Something I am very passionate about!
We don’t have much stuff. Almost all of it is boxed up and currently fits in two small closets and under our bed. We’re filling the car up with important items like clothing, bedding, fragile items, sentimental items, and whatever else we can fit. The rest will be left here for a while in storage.
We genuinely can’t thank you enough! We’ve never had to ask for help like this, and never once thought that we’d be facing the possibility of ending up on the streets. Even just sharing this around helps, immensely. <3 - After we get situated, I plan to pass this kindness forward as much as I possibly can.
(If you need reach out to us, our @s on Telegram are @Lycandoit and @Demon_wolfy / I can also be reached on Blusky or Twitter~)
We’re a pack and we all stand together.
