If you’ve landed here, you’re fortunate to know Nick Gay in some way. To know Nick is to love Nick, which is why so many of you who’ve heard about the recent turn of events in his life have asked repeatedly what you can do to help.
A month ago, Nick was simply doing life—creating partnerships to develop amazing botanical extract seltzers at work, building a custom pinball machine (yep), achieving 9 months without drinking; taking great care of his cat; being an awesome friend, son, brother, cousin, uncle and nephew; buying a new electric car; and generally adulting. Until he experienced a seizure one day that resulted in an ambulance ride to the ER and a diagnosis of a brain tumor.
What’s Ahead
This is taking Nick on an unplanned journey that would typically be unknown to most healthy 32-year-olds. It will start with a 4- to 6-hour surgery at UC Health Anschutz on January 10, for which he will have to be awake in order for the surgeons to achieve the best outcome. The tumor is sizeable, and full removal will not be possible. Post surgery, Nick will more than likely face weeks of in-patient rehab and possible chemo and/or radiation.
How You Can Help
So here we are with a GoFundMe and the question of what you can do to help. Nick is remarkably strong and positive as he steps into this unknown territory. But there are things his strength and positivity can’t control or change. He is currently not able to drive or work, which will be the case for an undetermined amount of time. He will still need to keep up with his financial obligations, deal with steep medical expenses, and will more than likely have to Uber everywhere for the next several months. Any level of contribution—of money, love, prayers, healing energy—will help sustain Nick through this journey.
We can’t thank you enough for your support and for being a part of Team Nick.
