Help Lillie and Bailea Gerein and Family

Donation protected
On September 20, 2017 Lillie and Bailea's father,  Rob Gerein, died unexpectanly of complications from surgery for Liver failure.  Although he struggled with some issues in the past, he was sober for the last year, moving towards better relationships and  it has always been known that he very much loved his daughters. It would not be in his nature to want his daughters to suffer through their childhood.

Just as the family was coming to terms with his death, Rob's Mother passed away as well. The girls loss of their grandmother near the same time was a lot for a 10 and 12 year old to come to terms with.

Unfortunatly, for the girls, Rob died without a registered Will or Life Insurance and never properly filed a custody or support agreement.

So for the last two years I have supported the girls on my own. And to my surprise, have had to pay all their legal fees , filing fees etc as guardian to make sure they are represented as beneficiaries. It's been a tough couple of years and I've struggled with the stress of all of it. Single motherhood has always been hard, but I just switched careers in the last couple of years after recovering from my own unexpected accident suffering a large chemical burn. Coming to terms with death has had the girls act out in grief, by not doing well in school and they could use some professional counselling. This has affected the family emotionally and my work life as well.  Both Lillie and Bailea need braces at an estimate of $8,000  and we have no dental coverage. Lillie is in urgent need of them , as she has some surgery and corrections. She is experiencing anxiety as she doesn't want to wear braces in High school, but I haven't been able to get them started. Due to the cost of living, I havent been able to do any extra curricular activities for them and Lillie would really like a computer to use for high school. We are asking for help for just the normal things that families need to get through in life and these situations.

I am heartbroken that I can't provide these things on my own. Making matters worse, our rental accomodation has structural issues and  we have to move. I also need to administer Robs estate, as there are personal items to deal with and creditors waiting for it to be probated.

So we need to move closer to Vancouver to do that. We have given notice for the end of August, and that will be an expense we have no budget for . We are selling most of our furniture and possesions to lighten the load, and help raise funds... but could use some financial help with that. That's another upset to the girls as they have to change cities and miss their friends. Their  older sister Julia is moving out for the first time and will be staying in Toronto to attend her second Year at Ryerson University. Which we are so proud of her for! The seperation will be tough. I will try and keep working on the little bits of work I have to finish some remotely. But will need to search for another job, and re adjust out West.

The estate issues are complicated and won't be resolved any time soon, and their childhood may be over by the time their is a resolution.  Any funds from the estates will go into trust , available to them when the girls are 25 years old.

And that's 10 years from now.

We need help today.

And we will take advice, good wishes, love and even support in the form of your attendance at our garage sales!

If you know me as a mother,  you know I'll do anything for my kids, I'll advocate for them , love them and fight for them everyday. It's hard to ask for help, but it's what best for them... no matter how hard and humbling it might be for me.

Thank you,
Corrie Clark
