Help Havoc Heal

Donation protected

Nothing has been the same since Friday May 18th, 2018 for my son, Jacob, his girlfriend,
Jessica, and their fur babies, Havoc & Chaos. This quote from them says it all, "Our boy needs
help. Our hearts are broken and all we want is to have him back home with us. This day changed
our lives "…
While hanging out at the race car shop with Jake, Havoc and his brother, Chaos, took advantage of an open door, while no one was looking and headed out for an adventure. That’s when the search began and no was prepared for what they would eventually find...
Chaos and Havoc are rarely apart & are true brothers at heart. Chaos returned to the shop first. He was
extremely uneasy and was reluctant to come to us. He was stopping to look behind him constantly,
searching for his brother.

Chaos knew his brother was hurt...badly.
Something was off. When Havoc returned he was limping,  there were porcupine quills visible on his face
and closer inspection showed they were also lodged in his shoulder area. He was having difficulty
breathing and there was no question that this was an emergency. Fortunately, whereas it was a holiday
weekend, his vet was on call that day. First, Havoc was sent to Riverview for 24/7 care to release the air off his lungs.
He was sent home, but was still gasping for air.

His Mom and Dad sat by his side all that night watching over their boy as he struggled to find a
position in which to sleep, struggling to breathe. He sat, with his head laying on the arm of the
sofa...and slept.
The next morning he was rushed back to the vet again, air was released off the lungs, x-rays
determined he needed expert care and was then sent to PEI, ASAP, for surgery to repair a
pneumothorax (in short partially collapsed lung), apply care for the porcupine quills, fix a cracked rib and
make sure nothing else was wrong. It has been nothing short of a rollercoaster ride
emotionally for Havoc’s family friends, and a physical battle for Havoc. Since arriving in PEI he
has had two invasive surgeries. The first resulted in the partial removal of his left lung, filling his
chest with his own blood in hopes of filling and clotting the lesions. The second surgery was
required to remove quills from his right lung and mediastinum. Havoc and his “brother” Chaos
are blessed with a loving, caring and responsible family.

What started out as an emergency vet call to remove quills and stabilize Havoc had very rapidly
turned into a struggle for Havoc to stay alive and without these costly surgeries he would either have to be euthanized or possibly surrendered to a rescue for ongoing vet care. For Jake & Jessica, it goes without
saying that they will go to the ends of the Earth to save their boy. You see, Havoc is more than just their
pet. They loved him long before they brought him home as a puppy.
They prepared for him, and they have been rewarded with this amazing, highly intelligent,
loving, sweet-hearted boy. When either of them is having a bad day, he immediately picks up on
it, and will go to be next to them as if to say, "I'm here for you".  And it works.  They are his people, his
family. And now, it's their turn to be there for him. This ordeal has taken it's toll on this young family, both emotionally and financially. The costs of vet care has skyrocketed to the point where they can no longer
manage it on their own. To this point, the amount owing has reached an estimated $20000. Insane, right? Why would you let the cost reach that point, you might ask ? Simple, because, "we owe him nothing less
than everything. We wantour family back together, Chaos misses his brother. We. Love. Him".
Taking this step has been incredibly hard for Jake & Jessica to do....reaching out to others for
help. They want you to know that any amount that is contributed to Helping Havoc Heal will be
used to cover the costs of surgical procedures, tests, and medications. Any donations and shares would
mean so much to us and bring Havoc that much closer to being back here with us.
"We can't express, in advance, how much we appreciate and are grateful for the kindness of all
who share in our journey to bring healing to our boy, Havoc. From the bottom of our hearts,
THANK YOU!!!"

Sincerely,
Jake & Jessica
Havoc & Chaos
