Help George Battle Long Covid

Hi, my name is Lupe. I’m reaching out for help for my son George who is battling long covid. My family has always pulled ourselves out of hardships, but I have to admit we need help this time. Though still having long-lasting effects of Covid myself, I have been able to go back to work to provide for my family. My son George has not had the same luck.

George was attending college, working, participating in fitness competitions and enjoying life as any 19-year-old should be when he, unfortunately, tested positive for Covid. All three of us in my home tested positive in June 2020 but had no idea it would affect us to the degree it has.

How Covid is affecting George

He currently suffers: nerve and vascular damage, severe cognitive dysfunction and neurological issues. He has very little energy and has to stop and pace so often to even go from the car to the doctor’s office. Every day is a struggle to do anything, from walking to the restroom to finding a position to sleep that doesn't give him trouble breathing and spasms. These issues are not improving, and this has put a lot of distress on the family, and I just want him to have some normalcy back.

Medical history

George’s primary doctor has diagnosed him with a number of conditions including Post Covid coagulopathy, POTS, small fiber neuropathy, vision issues, syncope, muscle spasms, etc. due to long covid. Kaiser has not been able to provide medicine or treatments that help with the symptoms so we looked elsewhere and found doctors who have been helping long haulers with meds that have been used to alleviate some symptoms. However, the meds have only made a very small difference. Also, it has been costly to be seen by these doctors, and medications are not covered by insurance.

How you can help

Any donations made will help in our journey to recovery for George. We are currently trying to get a promising treatment with a doctor we trust who is using stem cells that help regenerate damaged tissues, nerves, and organs. Stem cells have multiple studies showing massive benefits in treating immune-mediated conditions like long covid. A number of long haulers suffering from its symptoms and other chronic conditions have greatly benefited from the results of stem cell treatments. Insurance does not cover the treatment, and the costs are outside of our means. Treatment and medications are expensive, and donations will help with those out-of-pocket expenses as well as doctor visits, lab work, medical devices, and taking work off for his doctor visits. George depends on me financially now. His symptoms are continuously getting worse; this is why I am asking for help.
