Alexa has faced many trials in her short life.  She has been battling her health since she was 12 years old. She has had undiagnosed Lyme disease for 15 years that doctors did not discover until last year. The long term lyme in her body has affected her heart, her nervous system, caused extreme anxiety, and crushed her immune system. She has suffered more Pain, Heartbreak and Disappointment than any young woman should have to endure.  We’ve witnessed so many of the simplest of her life’s hope and dreams be shattered time and again due to how this disease affected her body.  We’ve watched as it depleted her energy, how It caused debilitating pain, all of which is all to often misunderstood. I share this because I want you to understand, this is an unseen illness, it’s not visible to you and I.  Of course she has ‘Good’ days or ‘Good’ moments, which she embraces with such passion, but in a blink she can be down again. We see a Beautiful Woman with her infectious smile, yet what we don’t see, is the effort  it took for her to show up.

Alexa has shown incredible courage and great faith as she has fought EVERY day to live the life most of us so easily take for granted. And I want her story to be told so there can be greater understanding of what she is facing day in and day out. 

Once finally diagnosed and taking the steps to treat her Lyme disease, she received news that every woman fears..... At the young age of 26, she is facing her greatest battle yet... with breast cancer.

Being so young, the doctors encouraged her to do an egg retrieval for a better hope of having children one day.  After taking hormone injections everyday for 2 weeks prior to the procedure, the egg retrieval could not be completed because the clinic did not have a back up plan for women who do not respond to the conscious sedation medicine given and told her they could not call in an anesthesiologist because this was not considered an emergency. This incident  affected her possibility of children one day and left her feeling hopeless. 

While she has fought for her health, the Husband who vowed to love her in SICKNESS and in health, betrayed and abandoned her.. The divorce has left her uninsured medically.  With her double mastectomy,  reconstruction, and chemo coming up, any help would be greatly appreciated to offset medical bills.

Alexa is a natural born fighter, but she needs help more than ever right now. With the difficult road ahead, we are thankful for family and friend’s support during this time.  Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
