Elias has a rare neurological condition called Congenital Bilateral Perisylvian Syndrome. They believe it’s genetic but this disorder causes too many folds or ripples in the brain causing him to have difficulties walking, talking, using his hands and causing seizures daily. Every year we try to take Elias to an intensive therapy program that entails 3 weeks, 3 hours a day, 5 days a week of what I call “baby bootcamp”. This therapy has done wonders for Elias; he has come a very long way in a short period of time compared to his regular therapy that’s 1/2 hour sessions just 3 times a week (what insurance covers). This intensive physical therapy is NOT covered by insurance. So every year we try to fundraise, bake, and get as many donations as possible to get him back to intensive therapy hoping that very soon (because he’s close and God is good) he will walk independently.
