Aid for Chester to Heal After Devastating Fire
Donation protected
Hi everyone, my name is Lynn…I’m here to raise funds for a very brave kitty who was injured in a horrific fire this past Saturday night, January 12th. Chester needs our help…
One of my closest friends, Brooke Hoover, is displaced due to extensive damage to her home from a fire that started in her neighbor’s house that night. The homes are row houses, attached, in Jersey City, NJ…the neighbors home is burned down and the damage to Brooke’s home is extensive. Brooke, her Mom Anne and their two dogs were able to get out safely, but Chester the cat ran out of the door and remained missing for days…
Chester is a former neighborhood feral who showed up about 5 years ago…Brooke fed him regularly and had him TNR’d (neutered and vaccinated)…as the years went on he became closer to the family, developing a bond with Brooke’s 17 yr old Pomeranian “Annie”…after Chester came home with an injury this past November, which Brooke took him to the vet for, Chester himself decided he wanted to stay inside and join the family forever and full time…until this fire…
After frantic searches, Chester showed up, crawling out from under the damaged house. We took him to Cream Ridge Animal Hospital where Dr. Ruge diagnosed him with a burned right paw and smoke inhalation…he has severe osteoarthritis likely secondary to an old injury and when he ran from the fire he likely re-injured himself…but Dr. Ruge also diagnosed severe dental disease and ulcerations…which she said have to be causing him great pain, on top of the injuries due to the fire. As a result we have scheduled a dental surgery on the 22nd. Chester is currently on pain meds. I’m seeking funds to cover the vet visit we just had as well as the impending dental surgery which will be costly- if there is anything leftover it will go to the welfare of any of the ferals remaining in that area.
Any support, no matter the size, is greatly appreciated, by me, and Brooke and Anne AND Chester…he is a sweetheart. This whole ordeal is extremely overwhelming. We thank you.
I’ve attached a few photos of Chester, Annie the Pom and of the house damage.
