Hal Phillips Memorial Fund
On April 27th, 2020, our friend Harold Canaday Phillips (Hal) passed away very unexpectedly. Today, we are trying to ease the burden of his passing by creating this fundraiser.
Hal was born August 15th, 1963 in Columbia, SC. He was the first son, but fourth child, of E.D. and Emily Phillips. He was a friendly, energetic and enthusiastic person.
Throughout his life, he was engaged in activities that strengthened him and benefited others. He sold produce, plants and cars. He picked watermelons, landscaped and installed irrigation. He loved to talk and discovered a talent for informal counseling, allowing him to diffuse many troublesome situations in his work as a doorman. Near the end of both his parents lives he returned home to help care for them in long-term terminal illness, leading to a job as a respite caregiver. His most exciting job was marine salvage, mostly off the west coast of Florida and the Gulf.
Hal is survived by his three sisters Becky Phillips, Deedie Belangia and Jackie Finch, his brother Steve Phillips, and many other friends and family members, all of whom loved and laughed with him.
