Pops. Our rock, and compass in the darkest of times, passed away on February 21st, with my mom and his brother by his side.

He battled cancer a couple of years ago, and with numerous rounds of chemo pills, liquid chemo, and radiation, was able to beat it. We had a good year and a half or so clear from it. Unfortunately he got sick around October of last year, and when he went in for his routine check up, the screen showed a lot of red and yellow in his mid section. He had pneumonia, and doctors chalked it up to that at the time. He went through the course of that, beat that, then got covid. Covid ran its course and he beat that; but he was still sick and getting worse, so some test were ran and it came up that his cancer came back, and had spread through out a lot of his mid section. It was a punch in the gut for all of us. He’d been fighting so hard to fend off all these sicknesses trying to keep him down, just to be told his cancer is back and it’s stage 4. His confidence was crushed after getting the news, knowing his time was limited. All we wanted was him to be healthy enough to see Ambiah play softball, watch Beckham grow up a little more, and take another family trip or 2. Unfortunately it was all cut short, and my mom, his better half of 45+ years, is left picking up the pieces.

His social security is no longer part of the household income that they had incorporated into the plan, it was cut off when he passed. The medical bills have been rolling in daily. Between cremation costs, celebration of life planning, and all the other expenses that are being thrown upon my mom now, it’s become very overwhelming. Anybody who knows us knows we don’t like asking for handouts or help, we’ll be the first to spot somebody money or help if needed. And I know pops is up there shaking his head at us for doing this, but my mom needs help.

Whether it’s a few bucks, a hundred bucks, or a just a simple share, please help my mom be able to grieve during this time and not have to worry so much about all these expenses. We’re doing our best to help her, but we need help also. We’d be forever grateful, thank you.
