Hi there, my name is Olivia. I'm organizing this on behalf of my best friend Emily. Emily's been hit left and right with life situations for the last few years and yesterday was the straw that broke the camels' back.
This is from Emily directly;
Hi, my name is Emily -
I'm a single mom of two amazing children ages 12 and 4. On July 6th, we were involved in a serious car accident. I rear-ended a car who slammed on their breaks at a light that had just turned yellow, the light was still yellow when I looked up after impact. My car is completely totaled, we are shaken up, bruised, and sore. Thankfully we are safe with no major injuries.
This crash was the "cherry on top" of an already difficult situation. During the hardest season of my life.
A little over two years ago, I escaped a dangerous, abusive relationship. I used every last dollar I could scrape together, plus a high interest title loan, to get my kids and I to safety and to start over from scratch. I've been rebuilding ever since. All while in an ongoing legal battle with our abuser to keep us safe and protected. It's been exhausting but I've never stopped fighting for them.
Just as I was starting to be able to breathe again, I lost my job with the VA due to government budget cuts. I've been trying to stay afloat with job hunting, court hearings, and caring for my kids, with my 4 year old daughter being special needs.
And then this car accident happens.
Now I have no savings left, I still owe 15k on the title loan, my full coverage car insurance will cover the value of the vehicle which is around 9k or 10k. AFTER, I pay the 1k deductible, which I don't have. Which leaves me with a huge remaining debt, no transportation for myself or my kids to get to appointments or court hearings, or to start over... AGAIN.
I'm exhausted, and stayed strong for this long. But now, I really need some help.
If you can help even a little, every little bit will go towards:
- Paying the deductible so the insurance money can be released
- Reducing the title loan balance on the car that no longer exists
- Getting any kind of vehicle so I can take care of my kids
- Keeping us going until I can get back on my feet
Even if you can't donate, just sharing this would help more than you know. Thank you for reading, for caring, and being part of the reason I don't give up.
With love,
Emily and two grateful kids
