Gandalf Needs Cancer Care

Hello fellow pet-loving internet denziens. My sweet dear old-man kitty, Gandalf, has been diagnosed with cancer; specifically Hodgkins-like lymphoma. He's been my love since I brought him home when he was 9 weeks old, and I would do anything in the world for him. He saw his new oncologist yesterday, and she told us he's going to need surgery, as he has a tumor pressing against his larynx that is going to progressively make breathing harder and harder if we don't do something about it, along with chemo. With the surgery, I might get another year or two with him. Without it, he might get to see his 16th birthday (in May), but he might not. My heart breaks even at the thought of that, and I can't let him go without fighting for everything possible to make him better.

The problem lies with the fact that COVID destroyed my job, and I have completely emptied my savings account trying to take care of Gandalf's health, as it took a downward turn in late summer. I spent my last $600 yesterday on the oncology appointment and his first round of chemo meds. His surgery is estimated at $3000-5000, and I will have to take him in for monthly health checks, which cost $175 each time. His chemo medications are $100/mo, and he is also on thyroid medication that is $70/mo. Pain meds are another $70. Food, litter, all the normal things... This is adding up very quickly, and what little income I have right now is is laughable under the weight of his needs. I will go without for him, but my going without right now is going without food for me, to get meds for him.

Right now, I'm looking to cover the surgery and 4 months of all of his maintenance care. The largest chunk, the surgery, I will probably need by the middle of January, but I have a consult with the surgeon when I take him back for an ultrasound in two weeks, so I will have a better idea of that timing soon, and will update as things change.

This is a daunting, and terrifying, journey he and I have to navigate, and we need help to get to the other side safely. Any help is so greatly appreciated, beyond words. Thank you.
