2021 - DW Automotive Fundraiser - Get Dave Back on his Feet
For many of us 2020 was a particularly tough year, but for some people major health battles made it even tougher. Dave Whitehead was one of those people and for him 2020 was a real pain in the @rse!
He's not a person who will complain and ask others for help though, so that's why this page has been set-up on his behalf and with his begrudging consent.
This GoFundMe page is all about 'helping a mate' to make 2021 a much more positive year. All funds raised will be used directly to help Dave re-establish his business 'DW Automotive', get back on his feet and to re-gain his old strength and mojo.
You see for Dave working all day in the shed on an old Landy is a reality (not just a a dream that many of us chase), but for Dave it is also his sole income. His ability to rebuild a gearbox, bleed brakes, and cut the odd bit of rust out of a chassis, is not just a hobby but it's his actual job, puts food on the table and allows him to pay his bills.
2020 - A Sh1t of a Year
2020 for Dave meant being confronted with the diagnosis of the dreaded C word - 'Cancer'. Affecting his colon, he was forced to make some tough decisions and take on this personal health battle head-on and he spent most of last year on a significant amount of medication whilst making very regular trips hospital trips for treatment and specialist appointments. But in typical Dave fashion, he just kept plugging on, maintaining his sense of humour and despite battling the side effects of his treatment he was able to spend the odd day in the shed tinkering away repairing the Landy's that he loves.
Working on older Land Rovers is his absolute passion and it could be argued that in a way it's his actual medicine. Even if you don't know Dave personally, you likely will have seen his name regularly based on his prolific posts and comments on Series Land Rover forums and Facebook groups. You may not always agree with his opinion, but he is always very generous and willing to share his knowledge and expertise with anybody facing any mechanical issues with both Series and County vehicles.
2021 - Its Going to be Fun!
Dave has big plans for his business in 2021 and he's keen to get back helping out anyone who needs some serious mechanical work done on their Land Rover to get it back on the road. So if you are able to donate a small amount to assist then Dave and his partner Ange would be extremely grateful.
No amount is too small and he was the first to acknowledge that others have been doing it tough as well, so if you're in a position to help then a HUGE THANK YOU and if you're not then no problem and thanks for simply reading.
