Drum Education Facility Needs Your Support
Spende geschützt
Hello DSA Drummers, Families and Friends.
If you have been directed to this page, you have no doubt heard that we are raising capital to make some much needed infrastructure upgrades to our venue room. If you have found this page by referral, let us take a brief moment to tell you about Drum Sync Academy (DSA) and our musical education experience.
DSA is a unique drum school dedicated to going beyond just a drum education – we give you a full drum experience! We are the largest drum program of our kind in California and have grown to almost a landmark 100 drummers at the drum school. Our drummers get an immersive, pro drum experience that includes high level individual instruction, innovative group classes, performance experience and numerous other drum education opportunities. Our expanded facility has a large venue room where drummers can get a taste of being a gigging drummer.
And this is why we need your help. The facility we expanded into needs some upgrades to the physical plant, and specifically soundproofing. The cost can be quite prohibitive for a small education facility such as our school, but the benefit for the students makes the effort worthwhile. Let Kyle Schweikhard, our resident professional drummer tell you all about it while taking a tour.
Thanks for watching the video, that’s just a glimpse of how massive this 1,000 square foot venue renovation will be. Here is just a small summary of our goal and items/material required to get this job done right.
New Layout / Soundproof Design
Extend Existing Walls: Three walls already exist, however they don’t go up to the ceiling, allowing sound to travel over into other areas of the building and that is not good. So,
- Extend Wall 1: Build extension to the ceiling
- Extend Wall 2: Build extension to the ceiling
- Extend Wall 3: Build extension to the ceiling
Build four new walls. These new walls need to be built 2-4 inches off the existing walls, creating airspace, which stops vibration (sound) and will add an additional soundproofed layer.
- Wall A - entire new double 6-8 inches wall separating the stage from offices.
- Wall B & C - entire new walls separating the venue from the recording studio.
- Wall D - entire new wall separating the venue from the lobby and studio A.
SoundProofing Materials - Like most renovations, it’s ALL ABOUT materials!
- General lumber such as Plywood, MDF Soundboard, Metal Studs, Greenglue, MLV, a lot of Roxul insulation, and much more miscellaneous materials (screws, nails, tape).
- High-end soundproof absorption wall treatments to cover new interior walls in the venue.
- Bass Traps to capture low-end sound frequencies (that look like 2’ foam triangles) that will be placed in all corners, stacked on top of each other all the way to the ceiling in the venu.
- New 15’ X 30’ Theater Curtain (like you see at churches/movie theaters) and ideally four of them.
All these materials will ensure the drummers can rock LOUDER without disturbing the neighboring businesses. It is so important that our current drummers and future drummers to come have an amazing space to learn and play the drums!
We appreciate your consideration of a donation of any amount and look forward to seeing you rock with us at DSA soon!
Thank you
