Donations for Tong Thao

Hello to family and friends,

On July 13th, our Dad, Tong Thao, was hospitalized at St. John Medical Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He went in with minor symptoms of nausea, vomiting, and yellowing of eyes and skin. His illness was unknown at the time. The hospital administered many tests while his conditions were worsening. We were informed by his doctors, that he had hepatitis B that was causing his liver and gallbladder to fail.

On July 22nd, he was transferred to a liver specialist at OU Medical Center in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. While the doctors were treating the hepatitis B, they also presumed that Dad may need liver transplant if his conditions does not improve. After many tests and treatments, it was determined that he needed a liver transplant, and he was placed on the waiting list on July 31st.

We received the good news of a matching donor on August 3rd. Dad was admitted to surgery on August 4th. The surgery went well, and he is now recovering in ICU but is still having complications. He will require on going physical therapy and lifelong medications to keep the new liver.

Due to these unfortunate circumstances, Dad and Mom have not been able to work. It will be a long road to recovery, and Dad will have to stay in Oklahoma City for a few months until he is released back home to Tulsa (2 hours away).

Our honest and hardworking dad puts others before himself. He is a loving husband, a father to seven children, and grandfather to ten grandchildren.

Please share this with your family and friends. Any amount gifted will help with expenses that includes medical bills, prescriptions/co-pays, lodging for frequent medical visits, food and gasoline for frequent clinic visits post-transplant, and other financial hardships due to loss of income.
