Breaking Bread Again – A Fundraiser for the Children of the Middle East (Gaza)
On World Bread Day, October 16th, people around the world celebrate the simple, powerful act of sharing bread. This year, we invite you to turn that tradition into hope for children in Gaza.
Why This Matters
For children in Gaza, bread isn’t just food—it’s survival. Families are facing severe shortages of water, food, and medical care. The youngest are often the most vulnerable. Together, we can help ensure they don’t go without life’s most basic needs.
My Story
During COVID, I learned how to bake sourdough. That experience deepened my appreciation for bread—not just as food, but as a symbol of care, patience, and community. That’s why I chose “bread” as the heart of this fundraiser: to help children in Gaza and beyond where help is urgently needed.
Pita, especially, is meaningful. It’s a bread shared by both Palestinians and Israelis. For me, it carries a vision—that one day, these two cultures will sit down and break bread again, in peace.
Community Partners
We’re honored to share that Acme Bread, of Berkeley has joined this effort by donating artisan loaves to help inspire generosity and community spirit.
Those who contribute $50 or more to this fundraiser are invited to pick up a loaf of Acme’s sourdough bread as a simple “thank you” for sharing hope.
Pickup Details:
