Donate to help Spooks get her leg amputation!

**update

Spooky girl is doing well! She’s 48hrs in recovering from her amputation. They did find bone fragments inside which makes the vet think her missing foot was due to injury(we didn’t have any history on her prior to adopting). Thank you to everyone who has helped. I will leave this open for now in case we can still reach our goal, but we’re incredibly thankful for all of the support.

Hello everyone,

My name is Naomi, and I’m raising funds for our new kitten's leg amputation.

We adopted Spooks two weeks ago from the Davis County Animal Shelter knowing that she was missing a back foot. We already had a tripod named Pigeon at home, and we knew she would be the perfect addition to our cat family. Unfortunately, after a few days at home we noticed the skin at the end of her leg(her nub) was beginning to dry out and scab, a few days later it started to crack and bleed. We did at home treatment to see if it would heal with aquaphor and less play, but eventually the whole tip of the nub went raw which prompted an urgent vet visit.

We saw a vet at a Banfield Pet Hospital that recommended amputation of the remaining limb for a better quality of life for Spooks. She explained that there was no padding at the end of her leg to prevent from rubbing while trying to use it to get around causing ulceration. If we don't remove the limb, Spooks risks infection and her wound won't heal. Our cost for her back leg amputation will be $2,500(updated cost below).

Spooks is still a little too young for the procedure and will need about a month or so before she weighs enough to have the surgery done. This falls around the holidays and with a big unexpected vet bill we are asking the community for help. Any help in the form of advice, sharing, or donation is greatly appreciated!

Thank you for taking the time to read and support us!

I will continue to post updates as I receive them. We are currently calling around to find out pricing for other clinics(and frantically trying to vet wrap Spook's nub and find pajamas onsies that fit her in the mean time).

11/11 update Spooks will be going to the Salt Lake Spay and Neuter clinic today to see if she qualifies for a lower cost surgery!

11/11 Update! The Salt Lake Spay and Neuter clinic will do the surgery for $700! This is an incredible relief, and I’ve lowered the goal amount. Thank you all for your support!!
