My name is Stephanie Garcia and I have set up this Go Fund Me for my cousin Kari Hibdon and her son Jake Owen.
Jake was diagnosed with CML (Chronic Myeloid Leukemia) in 2010 when he was just 15 years old. With the miracle of a daily chemo pill, his CML has been managed the last 10 years. This year he is battling illness again and has been in the hospital since September 10, 2025. Through lots of testing and a bone marrow biopsy, doctors have now diagnosed Jake with a combination of ALL (Acute Lymphocytic Leukemia) and AML (Acute Myeloid Leukemia) and have placed him on a fast path for a bone marrow transplant. He begins chemotherapy treatment through picline today.
Jake is currently at Medical City Dallas on the Oncology floor and will be there for at least 1 month. Jake works on a natural gas pipeline and he will be out of work for the forseeable future. While he has incredible doctors and a supportive network, the financial burden is overwhelming. The money we raise will go directly to covering medical expenses not fully covered by insurance, such as co-pays, hospital bills, and medications. It will also help with everyday costs that are adding up, including lost wages for his mother who is by his side, travel (she lives in East TX) and parking for hospital visits, and meals.
I am asking for your help to ease this immense financial stress so Kari and our family can focus on what's most important: getting Jake healthy. Any amount you can give, no matter how small, will make a huge difference. If you aren't able to donate, please consider sharing this fundraiser with your friends and family. Your support, prayers, and positive thoughts mean the world to us.
