Precious Desta Rose Grove was born March 20th with a large cancerous tumor impacting the right side of her brain. Up until her birth the family had no idea there was anything wrong. Desta has spent much of her short life in and out of Seattle Children's Hospital for surgery, biopsies, labs, and monitoring and is still the happiest, most charming baby you've ever met.
On May 5th, at six weeks old, a surgical team removed Desta’s tumor, reconstructed the right side of her skull and face and recovered her ear in a single day. This surgery was incredibly complex and Team Grove is so grateful that it went so perfectly.
Devastatingly, a recent MRI showed that the tumor was starting to regrow, and a new tumor has also appeared. After several difficult days in the ICU, a plan to treat Desta’s condition with chemotherapy has been set into motion. Understandably, Andy and Hanna have been highly resistant to chemotherapy and the suffering Desta will endure but understand this to be her best shot at survival and the potential for full recovery. It’s hard to fathom asking this little soul to fight harder and to take on even more affliction, but they must. Desta is currently undergoing a 12 week course of chemotherapy, only weeks after she underwent brain surgery.
As you can imagine this is an incredibly stressful and frightening time for the Grove Family. We are raising money to help Team Grove with everything they need - medical bills, meals, childcare, family time away to rest, etc. We want to stand alongside Team Grove in this fight and allow them to be able to focus on their family right now.
Hanna and Andy are hopeful, trusting and grateful for Desta's life. If you've seen them at all in the last five months you can see the peace and joy that is ruling their lives in the midst of this terrifying situation.

Team Grove covets your prayers during this time. Please join the Prayers for Desta facebook page to get updates and prayer requests.
From Andy and Hanna:
We appreciate your prayers and encouragement as we approach this next mountain and embrace these words “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Our hearts are heavy but our hope is unyielding.
"And though she be but little, she is fierce!" - Shakespeare
