Dana's vet care during the crisis

Short Version: Dana is all better, but because of limited work during the pandemic, paying for her vet care is going to be extremely difficult.

Here's a happy photo of her feeling all better and "helping" me make masks.

(Never fear: she's not allowed in the sewing area unsupervised  with materials out, and the masks will be washed thoroughly before donation.)

Dana gave us scare with some vomiting, a bloated tummy, and trouble using the litterbox. Because her regular vet is closed until further notice (because of the pandemic), we had to go to a nearby veterinary ER.


Fortunately, she did not need surgery, though she did have several X-rays to check for foreign objects or blockage, receive an IV for fluids and nutrition while she was fasting for X-rays, and had blood drawn for testing. 

After a few days of special GI food and careful monitoring, she's been cleared to return to normal food and is back to her normal , cheerful, and loving self.

Dana will be 8 years old in June and has helped me though some of the hardest times in my life. I don't really know how to express how important she is to me and the gratitude I feel that she has recovered quickly. She is my comfort, especially when the outside world is a source of anxiety.

My job has been impacted by the COVID-19 crisis since February. The US stimulus program will help, as will the limited unemployment support offered to freelance workers under the new CARES act (once it's available), but we are already behind on the mortgage and this is another $125/month (approx.) that has to come from somewhere.

This campaign is set to the total cost of her care, which needs to be paid off in 12 months, but please know that any amount of support will help and is greatly appreciated.
