On July 17th, 2021 I was run over by a car while riding my bike in Los Angeles. I broke my left femur, left shoulder, and 10 ribs; punctured both lungs; and sustained 3rd degree burns.
My recovery was difficult and remains ongoing, but I am tired of these injuries defining who I am and what I can do.
On July 17th, 2026: I’ll depart my home in Portland, Oregon on the FIVE YEAR ANNIVERSARY of my collision via bike and continue south until I get to Los Angeles and finish the ride I was trying to do when I got hit.
I’ll mostly follow the Pacific Coast Highway, before arriving in Santa Monica at the end of August.
Start: Portland, OR
Planned Distance: 1,320 miles
Planned Time: 44 days
Finish: Santa Monica, CA
If you feel inspired or just want to express your support, a donation to offset my ride costs is a great way to contribute! While bike touring is a relatively inexpensive pastime, is isn’t free nor is it easy to do while working. Contributions here go towards meals, bike repairs, campsite fees, gear purchases, and other incidental costs.

Thank you so much for your support of my recovery's capstone project!
