Joel Markowitz is a man passionately in love with theatre, its audiences and its artists. His friendships run deep and wide and reach from Washington, DC to Broadway and beyond.

He formed The Ushers theatre going group,  has written and recorded podcasts for DCTheatreScene, and founded DCMetroTheaterArts where he currently serves as publisher and editor.

As many of you know, Joel has been diagnosed with ALS, a progressive neurodegenerative  disease.  A GoFundMe campaign is underway to raise money for the considerable medical expenses he is facing.

On May 1, 2017  a very special cabaret evening will be performed for Joel and his friends by some of Joel's favorite performers at MetroStage in Alexandria, VA. Joel has attended many performances but he has never seen a show like the one we are planning for him.
It will be a night of surprises, ending with the presentation of DC Theatre Scene's Gary Maker Award and a reception where guests will have a chance to schmooze with Joel.

All monies raised will go directly to Joel. We thank all of the artists who are donating their services to create this evening.
