Donazione protetta
Hi friends!
As you know, I have a thing for adopting old dogs. Four of our previous pack of 8 are over 14 years old now and one of them is 10. Usually, when we bring a new pup into the family, we can fix them up ourselves when needed but this time, we need your help. Recently I acquired little Coconut (who is lucky #9) in Miami from a family who could no longer care for her advanced medical needs. Coconut has bilateral perineal hernias, which are very rare in female dogs and most likely the result of trauma. She is almost 15 years old, but her previous vet thought she had a lot of life left in her and recommended surgery to improve her quality of life. The hernias prevent her from going to the bathroom properly because she can't fully empty her bowels or bladder consistently. She squats over and over all day long trying to go potty. This presents discomfort and the possibility of a severe medical emergency if her bladder or intestines get trapped inside the hernias and lose blood flow or burst.
My vet and our local surgeon, (both who I trust 100%) agree with her original vet and think the surgeries are necessary and will reduce the risk of future complications. Her blood work is normal, her heart and lungs sound great and she is a good candidate for surgery so we want to enable her to live out her golden years with us in comfort and happiness. Her hernia repairs will be done separately in 2 procedures done a few months apart for the best outcome. Each procedure will cost $2,700. We have already spent around $350 on her bloodwork and consultation, bringing the total to around $5,700. We aren't fundraising for the entire amount because we can cover some of it. However, since we sort of stumbled upon this situation, we would greatly welcome any donations you can contribute.
Our doggie emergency fund was significantly drained last summer after Gracie, the 12 year old chihuahua we adopted, went into heart failure and had to be hospitalized twice. She ended up passing away after we had her for only 3 months, which was a severe hit to the funds so we are turning to our awesome network of pet-loving friends and family for help. We know that Coconut has a team of people rallying for her who know she deserves a second chance at life and we would be ever so thankful if you could join that team. She is the sweetest, most darling little thing and if you know us, you know she is home with her forever pack now and will be loved and snuggled for the rest of her life. Anything you can donate would be so amazingly appreciated and if you can't donate, please share! Thank you so much in advance for helping us help this little gal get well. You are the BEST!
