Walking together around Winthrop

Winthrop is a community gardens and cafe run by a fantastic team of volunteers. A lot goes on at Winthrop but our regular Memory Cafe is one of the activities of which we are all most proud. Our volunteers run the Memory Cafe twice a month to support and provide a social activity and regular meeting opportunity for those living with dementia and their carers.

Paula, the daughter of a couple of our regular attendees, Bill and June, recently ran the London Marathon to raise much-needed funds for our Memory Cafe and this has inspired us to hold a sponsored activity in which we can all take part!!!

On Friday 7th July 2023 - our guests, their carers and the volunteers who support our fabulous Memory Cafe will 'Walk together around Winthrop'

This will represent a considerable challenge for many of our guests who, in addition to living with dementia, need the assistance of wheelchairs, zimmer frames, strollers or walking sticks to enable them to remain mobile. The importance of this event is that we will ALL be taking part - guests, carers and volunteers - and we'll be taking part TOGETHER - that's the bit that's really so important to us all!

We'll be walking around Winthrop to raise funds for our Memory Cafe - to enable us to continue meeting together twice a month - enjoying activities, parties, lunches out and 'foodie' treats! And we'll also donate 50% of what we raise to Alzheimer's Research UK.

We like the idea of funds to support those living with dementia - here and now - but also looking ahead and raising funds towards essential research. If you feel able to support us in our endeavours we would all be most grateful.
