Hello, my name is Shelton Carr and I am a senior at Huntington Beach High School (HBHS). I play varsity soccer, volunteer for the National Honor Society, preside over the HBHS Table Tennis Club, and hold the Chief of Staff position for Model United Nations (MUN). I am proud to be a part of one of the best MUN programs in the country here at HBHS thanks to our consistently talented delegations.
For those of you unfamiliar with the program, MUN is a forum for young adults to partake in the thrilling world of the United Nations, where countries meet to discuss and resolve world issues. MUN delegates gather from around the world to participate in simulation conferences, where we follow all the procedures of a real UN convention. Speeches, caucuses, and research help us to become effective communicators, problem-solvers, and leaders.
In 2017, the HBHS MUN program and I will attend a conference in Rome, Italy! This is an amazing opportunity to take MUN abroad and compete on the international level. More importantly, these are the trips that shape our lives as delegates, students, and people. I would love your support to cover all the travel fees, as it is a large expenditure. I hope this fundraiser will bring me one step closer to Italy. This will be my first trip to Europe, and I'm excited beyond belief! Any amount is greatly appreciated.
