Hi, my name is Daniel Ouchakov. I’m a 17-year-old runner training for the Chicagoland Spring Marathon on May 3, 2026 in Schaumburg, Illinois. For the past 10 weeks, I’ve been preparing for my first full marathon.
I’m no stranger to endurance running—I’ve completed the half-marathon distance 10 times, including the 2024 Chicago Half-Marathon in 1:50:55—but I wanted my first marathon to be something
more than just a race. I didn’t always love running. I used to be a 200lb 8th grader who hated it more than anything. Every step felt miserable—but I kept going. Over time, I found purpose in pushing through discomfort. Running became a test of how much I’m willing to endure to come out stronger on the other side.
I’ve been nominated to the United States Naval Academy by Senator Tammy Duckworth and Congressman Bill Foster, and my goal is to become a Navy SEAL officer. Supporting those who have already sacrificed for our country is deeply important to me. For this marathon, I am fundraising $100 for every mile (26.2 miles), with all proceeds going to a nonprofit organization that supports disabled veterans. Every mile I run is for those who have given more than most of us ever will. My goal time is 4:45:00. There are only 4 weeks left until my race.
If you’re able to contribute, any amount helps—and it would mean a lot to me and to the veterans this will support.
At the end of the fundraiser, all funds will go directly to the organization I am supporting.
