Help Replace Toolbox's Stolen Tools
Donation protected
On the afternoon of Thursday, August 11th, thieves broke into the home and workshop of Aaron Goodge. They stole many of his tools, for a general contractor tools are basically how you interact with the world around you. In Aaron’s case, these tools were how he effected positive change in our community. These were tools that Aaron used for his business, Toolbox, which provides sliding scale home repair, general contracting, remodel and emergency repair services to the Tacoma community. The tagline for Toolbox is quality Craftsman ship for all, which is an idea that Aaron holds very close to his heart. He does not deny work to someone if they cannot afford it because he believes all people have a right to clean, safe and sanitary living conditions.
He already had to postpone a project for home repair that he had scheduled for the morning of Friday, August 12th.
Aaron needs help replacing his tools- although one look into his eyes as he talks about the drill that he had used almost daily for the last four years- and the collection of drill bits and other accouterments he had built up, job by job- and you know it can never be fully replaced. The way that he’s talked to me about the sound, the weight and the fell of this stolen drill shows how much this tool meant to him, and his ability to help others- something that drives him more than anyone else I have ever met.
There was a moment today when he suddenly remembered another tool, a portable table saw, which was missing. Watching him, head in his hands, shaking his head with sadness brought me to tears. This is someone who has many stories of losing items to theft, and every time he has shared an experience of loss, he has only wished the person that stole from him was able to better themselves through the item they took.
It's hard to reach out and ask for help with something like this, which is why I am doing so on behalf of Aaron. We are both new to the business world, and are learning as we go, as a first time business owners. Today Aaron discovered that he has inadequate insurance coverage to cover the loss of his tools. All monies raised from this campaign will be spent on replacing tools of his trade, which enable him to help those around him.
Aaron will spend time this weekend replacing his tools, its necessary for him to go back to work next week. Any help will be apprecaited and will directly go back into our community, through the work of Toolbox.
Thank you!
