Opals Surgery
On February 20th of this year, Sadie gave birth to 5 adorable Ragdoll kittens. The smallest of the bunch was Opal, weighing in at a whopping 0.97 lbs at 7 weeks old. She was a spunky little girl who grew to become affectionate and adventurous. By her last vet visit, everything was going well. She even caught up to her siblings weighing 2.02 lbs! On the day of their alterations a vet tech noticed Opal breathing a little heavier than her siblings. The doctor decided to do an x-ray of her lungs and that's when she realized that Opal had a condition called peritoneal pericardial diaphragmatic hernia (PPDH) . This means there is a hole in her diaphragm (the thin muscle that separates the chest from the abdomen and helps to breathe) which her liver had gone through. The doctor referred us to a veterinary cardiologist because Opal was, "not likely to do well long-term without repair". We quickly brought her for a consultation with the surgeon who confirmed the diagnosis and that surgery was the only option. He explained that while the surgery can have complications, he feels it will be successful and allow Opal to lead a long, happy, and healthy life. She is scheduled to have this procedure done on 05/20. But unfortunately, this surgery is expected to be roughly $3,000. I'm honestly having a hard time wording this because I'm not the type to ask for help, but the reason I'm doing this is to help Opal. Please do not feel obligated to donate. If you can't and you would still like to help please feel free to share this with all your friends and family. To those who do wish to donate any amount would be greatly appreciated. I also have a Venmo account, so if you would feel more comfortable donating that way, that can be an option as well. My family, Opal and I thank you with all of our hearts for your love and support.
