The family relies on precarious water sources, with Bayan often waiting in lines to collect water.

My father provided me with the best possible means to achieve my dream of being an outstanding student, which filled me with enthusiasm and joy. I have also been busy with other activities like singing, drawing and swimming. My life was full of joy and warmth until October 7, 2023, when everything became terribly different.

<div>My family home was destroyed, and I have been suffering from a nervous breakdown ever since. My father lost his source of income when his business became a pile of rubble. But miraculously, my family and I escaped death.

We could not bear the sound of huge explosions that sounded like recurring earthquakes and red flames sweeping through the area. We were forced to move to southern Gaza on the orders of Israeli forces, leaving our beautiful apartments. We went to the UN refugee school in the Nuseirat area first to escape horror and death. We stumbled into a different life full of suffering on every side, living the most painful hell of war. I became thin because of polluted water, lack of hygiene, the spread of infectious diseases, and the lack of suitable medicine.

<div>The situation is catastrophic. “There is nothing left in Gaza but death. Even death has become a privilege because it provides a feeling of comfort.” My younger sister Lana and I begged my father to travel out of Gaza, but it was very difficult because it was very expensive, and my father lost all of his possessions during the war, including his tools for working as home electricians and his apartment, which was completely destroyed. Therefore, he has nothing to help us travel outside Gaza, and there is no safe place in the Gaza Strip. I pray every moment for an end to this war and a ceasefire. The ceasefire is not just a call; It is a desperate cry for an end to the helplessness and despair that spread around every corner. We escape death every day and then wake up the next morning to try to escape it again. My heart is heavy, unable to bear the recurring nightmares, the overwhelming floods of news of blood, loss, destruction and despair pouring out of Gaza. Every minute feels like a struggle. No one should have to endure this. I lost my uncle, my father's brother, in the war, which increased our fear of the future.

I am deprived of basic rights, including education and health. I need to rebuild my broken life outside of Gaza with my family and help us get better healthcare and travel. It will cost at least 5000€ just to get out of Gaza so we can dream of pursuing our rights to a better education system and healthcare.

<div>Hazem and Yasmine once called Gaza home—a place where they laughed, dreamed, and built a life together. Today, they stand amid the ruins of that life. Their house is gone. Not a single brick remains. The neighborhood they knew—the bustling markets, the olive trees, the faces of neighbors—has vanished. War left only rubble, dust, and a chilling silence.

Gaza’s winters are brutal, and without electricity, fuel, or even a proper tent, they huddle under a plastic sheet, their breath frosting in the air. <strong>Clean water is a myth.</strong> What little they find is polluted, forcing them to gamble their health with every sip. Food prices have skyrocketed: a single egg costs 2, a bag of rice 2, a bag of rice25. Hunger is their constant companion.

They sleep on frozen ground, their bodies aching, their hope fraying.

"Light in the Dark: A New Beginning for Hazem and Yasmine"

<div>Our children were dedicated to their studies, full of curiosity and knowledge, and our dream was always to provide them with a bright and secure future.

<div>I had to flee south with my children in search for safety, while my husband Mohammed stayed in the North, severely injured and receiving treatment in the hospital.

<div>I worry about him every day, as I am unable to contact him and have no idea about his current condition and wherabouts.

</div>
<div>The Journey of Displacement and Suffering :

<div>Our journey began by fleeing to Rafah, where we were told there was safety.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>But the reality was disappointing ; the bombing continued everywhere, and we narrowly escaped death multiple times.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Finally, we reached the beach of Mawasi, Khan Younis, where an international organization provided us with a tent.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>But life here is unbearable ; we suffer from a severe shortage of drinking water, struggle to find food, and my children have contracted skin diseases due to the harsh living conditions.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>We’ve been displaced seven times since the beginning of the war.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Now, we are facing the danger of the Winter tides, which force us to move once again, away from the shoreline.
</div>

</div>
<div>The move is incredibly stressful and costly. Things get broken and lost. It is hard to put down the tent and build it again elsewhere, for a single woman like me. 
</div>

</div>
<div>The Urgent Need for Help :

<div>The most painful thing for me is seeing my children suffer in these dire circumstances.

<div>Hello, my name is Mohammed Abdel Karim Al-Ajla, and I am from Gaza City. I studied engineering at Al-Azhar University in Gaza. My family and I lived beautiful days in a beautiful home. Our simple life was completely destroyed when our home was bombed on October 27, 2023 (photos below). We lost everything we owned.

<div>My immediate family—my wife, my four children, my father, my mother, my sister, and my two brothers—fleeed first to a house inland outside Shuja'iyya, then to the Nuseirat refugee camp, where we rented a house that was also bombed. My family and I were attacked by Civil Defense personnel and ambulances, and we were taken to Al-Awda Hospital in Nuseirat for treatment. Twenty-seven people were killed in this attack. We miraculously survived death and numerous confrontations with it. We fled to Rafah. I once dreamed of becoming a computer engineer and world-class programmer, but the war shattered my dreams and those of my family.

<div>I used to work for a software company here in Gaza, but the Israeli occupation destroyed everything. I was healthy and had many happy clients when the genocide began. Since our house was bombed, I lost my laptop, my clients, and my source of income. Then we went to Al-Bureij camp, and my brother-in-law's house was bombed with more than 40 shells. We called the Red Cross and Civil Defense, but to no avail. We left there on our own under the occupation's artillery and walked about 10 km until we reached Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital in Deir al-Balah. After that, the hospital was threatened, and the occupation army asked us to leave. We fled to Rafah. After living homeless for 7 days on the streets of Rafah, we were given tents and then ordered to evacuate Rafah. We were displaced to the central region. We built a new tent and a new life from scratch, all with nothing but a bag for each of us. Our children are cold and hungry, we lack sanitary supplies, we drink contaminated water, and we don't have enough food, which increases our suffering. The war has been devastating, and we are facing incredible hardships. We fear an imminent invasion by the Israeli military.

<div>Hi, I am Hatem Al-Najjar. I live in Gaza with my wife and five children, my mother, father, sister, and brother. We have been displaced many times and now live in a small tent. We have been forced to eat animal feed for the last fifty days because there is no food available. We are being starved to death and do not have fresh water. Everyone is getting ill with hepatitis and now there is polio in the water. We are being bombed daily and have no ability to get money for food.

<div><strong>Food, medicine, and supplies, if available, are extremely expensive.</strong> For example, a mango is 15 Euros per pound. A tent costs 2000 Euros. We have been almost completely abandoned by the world, except for some healthcare workers who come in for some weeks on a rotating basis to help out with little to no supplies nor medicine. We are truly in the most devastating situation a human being can experience.

<div>So I bid farewell to my home and hoped that the angels of heaven would protect what was left of it, but we received news that it had become a place where only the hills were stationed and when they got up and left it, they did not care about any fatigue.

<div>Before things changed radically, Alaa and Nour were living in a beautiful small town called Abasan al-Kabira in Khan Yunis. Alaa worked as an engineer, and Nour had recently graduated with a degree in social work. Alaa describes her as creative and with a great passion for work.

<div>Unfortunately, Alaa lost his job and their house was completely destroyed beyond repair, forcing the couple to move south to Rafah in the Gaza Strip, where they are currently displaced. Now, we all know that there is no safe place in Rafah, and there is a sense of urgency about the preparations to leave for Mawasi Khan Yunis in a plastic tent.

Mustafa was born at the beginning of the war, and he was only five days old when they bombed our house at the beginning of the war, and after that the occupation bombed my house above our heads, but thank God we came out alive. <span>A Battle for Life After Losing Everything

I am Omar, a man who lost his home, his work, and the life he once knew—but I have not lost my dream, nor my sense of responsibility toward those who need me. Today, I find myself facing two battles: the first is my dream of opening a small restaurant that carries my name after everything I owned in Gaza was destroyed. The second is saving my niece, a little girl suffering from a rare condition in her feet. There is no treatment for her here, and her only hope is to travel abroad for medical care.

After my past life was taken from me, I saw only one path forward: to start again. I search for a safe place where I can open my restaurant, where I can rebuild my life and regain my dignity. But it is not easy—travel costs are overwhelming, and starting over in a new country requires resources I do not have.

At the same time, there is this little girl who looks up at me with hope. She doesn’t understand why her feet fail her while other children run freely. She doesn’t know that the illness she suffers from has no cure here. How can I leave her to face this pain alone? How can I chase my future while she remains trapped in a present without hope?

I am here, searching for an opportunity—not just for myself, but for her as well. There are dreams that must be rebuilt and lives that must be saved. I may not have much, but I have hope. And I am looking for a helping hand to support me on this difficult journey—to help me start anew and to give this child the chance at life she truly deserves.</span>

Between My Dream and My Niece’s Healing

<div>My life used to feel like a beautifully woven tapestry: a warm home, a loving family, and the simple joys of togetherness. Each day was a blessing, filled with love, laughter, and hope for a brighter future. We were grateful for the peace we had, never imagining how quickly it could all be torn apart.

<div>But on October 7th, everything changed.

<div>Our home in Gaza was bombed, reducing it to rubble in the blink of an eye. The safety, memories, and warmth that once defined our lives were gone. In the chaos, we fled to southern Gaza with nothing but the clothes on our backs, stepping into a life of unimaginable hardship.

<div>I lost two of my beloved sisters and their children in the bombing. Their absence has left a wound in my heart that will never heal. To make matters worse, another sister and her children remain trapped in northern Gaza, where I cannot reach them. I don’t know if they’re safe—or even alive. This uncertainty weighs on me every single day.

<div>Now, I live with my husband and three children in a makeshift tent. This tent offers no protection from the blistering summer heat, the biting winter cold, or the relentless rain that seeps through its fragile fabric. It’s not a home—it’s a constant reminder of what we’ve lost.

<div>We lack the basic necessities:

During the war, I gave birth to my daughter, Wateen, who joined her siblings, Bassam and Leen, as beacons of light in these trying times. My children are my strength, my reason to wake up every day and keep fighting for a better future.
