<div>With sensitivity and a degree of urgency, we are writing to update you about Leda and Ricky’s situation which greatly needs our attention and care. Please read this whole message.

<div>Unfortunately, the chemo has not been successful and Leda is still living with the cancer and the very difficult health condition it has created for her. At the doctor’s advice, Leda has stopped chemotherapy and is now moving into home-based palliative care. The money raised so far has enabled her to get a life-saving surgery, but there have been many additional bills that they have been unable to pay. Their credit cards are maxed out and insurance will no longer pay for treatments. Further, Ricky is unable to go back to work as he needs to spend these days with Leda.

<div>What is needed right now is a huge campaign effort to help them raise the money they need to pay their outstanding bills, pay for palliative care, and pay for ongoing treatments and basic life necessities. It is no small number: We are aiming to raise an additional $120,000 and hopefully as soon as possible.

<div>Leda remains optimistic and with a strong spirit. She is focused on regaining a basic balance internally that will enable her to continue living her life living pain-free with her husband. The doctor has told her that she has between six months and one year to live, and she continues to keep oriented towards the possibility of life continuing beyond then and carrying on in the best way possible. Many people continue on beyond these stated timeframes.

<div>In July 2022, Leda was diagnosed with uterine cancer. To help foster a beautiful healing, we won't write all of the details here–instead, please understand that our friends Leda and Ricky need our help.

<div>Leda has helped thousands of people deepen their health by teaching them about wild foraging &amp; life-giving foods they can make for themselves. She has taught generations of dancers the artistry and communicative possibilities of dance. Now, it is our turn to help her.

<div>Two days before her 60th birthday, Leda will go into emergency surgery to have the tumor removed. Surgery is on August 4th, and her 60th is on August 6th. <strong>As a birthday gift, Leda and Ricky are asking us to donate to this fundraiser to help cover the medical expenses, and to share the fundraiser with our networks. </strong>

Help Leda on Her Healing Journey

<div>Mason and Amanda from HerbRally recently set out on a 10 day road trip to get video footage of herbal classes and interviews for their YouTube channel and SchoolHouse site.

<div>Their trip started with excited anticipation and they were getting awesome footage along the way. 
</div>

<div>Then the unthinkable happened.

<div>While stopping for coffee, in the middle of the day, a group of people busted their truck window and stole everything inside. 
</div>

<div>They stole their cameras, lenses, and laptops.

<div>They took every single piece of Mason’s clothing. 
</div>

<div>Even more devastatingly, they took the many hours of fresh footage they had just shot and hadn’t yet uploaded to the cloud. 
</div>

<div>Mason and Amanda are devastated.

<div>Yes, they contacted the police. They even tried to ransom back their footage! But none of this has panned out. 
</div>

<div>Locals saw the robbery happening and tried to stop it but they said that these people are often armed. Locals also said this happens frequently to folks with out of state plates especially. 
</div>

<div>Luckily, everyone is safe. They taped up their truck window and drove home. 
</div>

<div>Mason told me that shortly after the event someone encouraged him by saying “Creativity is infinite.” Mason assured me that they are dedicated to continuing their mission to bring quality herbal information to you.

<p>Mimi Hernandez a much loved member of the herbal community is in need of our support. Mimi has been experiencing severe pain for several months and earlier this week the pain became unbearable.  <br /><br />On June 6, 2018 Mimi's wrote on her facebook page "Long arduous night at Mission Hospital ER. Surgery later today. Thank you for your good thoughts. Gallby’s finally coming out sooner than planned and he’s bursting at the seams about it. Just don’t burst inside me Gallby."<br /><br />Mimi had been trying to work with diet and natural remedies to avoid and/or postpone surgery.  On June 6th the pain was more than she was able to handle and as she says above she was hospitalized. She has had surgery and another procedure done and is now in recovery.  Recovery from any surgery takes time and rest is the best prescription. <br /><br />Like so many people Mimi does not have health coverage. She will need to pay for her surgery out of pocket. This is a position many who work in the herbal world and healing professions in general face. Mimi put this surgery off, until she was in unbearable pain and could not tolerate it any more. No one should have to endure this kind of pain, and postpone surgery that will provide relief because they do not have the financial resources to pay for it.<br /><br />Mimi is a single mother. She supports her family doing something that she loves and cares about: providing educational resources to the herbal community.  Anyone who encounters Mimi can see that she is dedicated to the plants and the people who work with them. She has given a lot and it is our turn to support her. <br /><br />As we all know working in the helping/healing professions is not a lucrative endeavor. This one hospitalization has the capacity to create incredible amounts of financial stress when what Mimi needs is peace and rest.  While there are larger issues to be tackled in our health care system, Mimi is in need of our support now. Helping her to pay this bill, will help her to continue serving the herbal community, will support her family by allowing her to use her resources for daily living expenses rather than money going in the direction of the medical establishment. <br /><br />Please give what you can and share this with others who love and care for Mimi. From all of us working on jim's recovery support team thank you so much for all of your generosity, shares and prayers. <br /><br />We knew we could raise this money but we are all awed that we were able to raise it this quickly. <br /><br />We thoughtfully came up with our goal amount by discussing future anticipated costs with Stephanie. We did our best to come up with an accurate monetary reflection of what recover would look like for jim and his family. <br /><br />However the reality is we don't exactly know what is in store. Our dear friend, jim mcdonald had a massive heart attack on May 25th while he was traveling in Scotland. He is currently in critical but stable condition, is under sedation, and while he is expected to make a full recovery, the journey there will be long.
